You have come to meditate this morning in the little cabin by the stream. It is a breezy, cool morning…more rain is on the way after a couple of welcome sunny days. You are sitting alone, listening to the leaves rustling, the brook whispering, and the whistle of a determined cardinal making his rounds. The surrounding woods have leafed out on schedule in the past week, as they have since the beginning of time.
It is wonderful to take some time in silence to observe and listen to the natural world, the trees and the sky, the sound of the stream, the birds and insects…the amazing abundance of nature that comes forth without a single thought of self.
The cardinal is still at work in the distance, and now, a single spring peeper is peeping. It is a beautiful morning, and whatever troubles you had when you sat down have emptied out into the fullness of life.
