How Wonder-full

Sitting here on our couch in Ojai, CA, listening to the carpenters across the street wrap up their day. The sound of tools clanking, laughter, and trucks starting up and departing. The mind is effortlessly quiet, and there is a sense of open wonder at the incredible sensitivity of the body/mind that is constantly processing all aspects of the environment.

Out of simple attention emerges the thought/feeling; how amazing, how wonder-full is it to be alive, to be aware this very moment?

How amazing is it that we can think and feel and have feelings and see and hear and remember and imagine and form words and speak and love something or someone and learn and continue to learn and move your limbs and reach for a spoon on the table eat and chew and taste and digest and poop and sleep and wake up and be quiet and observe and wonder, without words, ‘Who am I?’, and see a full moon fading over the hills and stop and watch and your heart breaks for the beauty of the world and you know, without knowing, that you are the world, you contain the world, all of it, troubles and all, and that the power to help the world, to heal the world, begins and ends with wonder.
